Progisp 172 for creality how to#
The only reason for all of these hoops is that the "Burner" (as Creality calls it) included with the kit will ONLY work with the progisp172 software and not some other method, and prior to this I had no idea how to get my hands on a compiled. hex file to use with the progisp172 software. THIS set of instructions was how I figured out how to create and find the. hex file rather than the one that comes in the first link to flash your Ender 3. The only substitution is that you will be using your own. Use the instructions for installing the kit from THIS LINK as the ones that come with the kit aren't quite correct. I used THIS LINK to get the progisp172 software from Creality for the USBISP that came with the kit. I verified the presence of a bootloader by reflashing the firmware through Octoprint (I had to edit the BLTouch x and y offset positions in the firmware). The "with_bootloader" file is the one I used with progisp172 (per the directions for the Creality kit) to flash to my Ender 3. When that completed, I went to my sketch folder and there was a directory with the same name as my sketch (Marlin-1.1.9 Ender 3 in this case), inside of that I had a Marlin folder, which had all of the various. Once I verified the firmware, I went to Sketch > Export Compiled Binary. I used the Teaching Tech vanilla Marlin 1.1.9 video to compile Marlin with BLTouch support via the Arduino IDE software. hex form) that doesn't appear to have a bootloader, and since you're flashing via the ICSP pins, it doesn't need it. Out of the box, the firmware they give you is custom Creality firmware (in. The reason for this update, however, is to share how I was able to use the USBISP hardware included with the kit from Creality to flash a bootloader to my Ender 3, something that took a little digging for me to figure out. Installing the hardware is pretty straight forward and on my Ender 3 Pro, I didn't have to bend any pins or play with any silliness to get things to close back up. It took a bunch of digging on my part to figure a few fiddly parts of this out, so I figured sharing would help someone else.Īs others said there, the z-stop plug was wired in reverse, but it's a simple enough thing to fix. I'm happy to try and troubleshoot for folks that need it, however.
Progisp 172 for creality update#
This is an update on my original post over here.Ī Disclaimer: This is what worked for me, after watching a bunch of videos on how to hook up the BLTouch and how to flash and I'm so not responsible if you fry something because I didn't mention some minutia here.
